The MHA for Terra Nova is offering his thanks to the staff of the Health Sciences after undergoing surgery just before Christmas.
Lloyd Parrott says he saw first-hand the staffing issues facing the health care system.
He got a clearer picture of some of the difficulties faced by nursing staff after his stay in hospital. He says the full contingent of staff on that unit was supposed to be 15, but seven were absent, with eight on staff.
Parrott told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly, you could see the stress on their faces but they still smiled and went ahead with their work. He says while the health care system is struggling, “there’s a lot of good people behind the scenes…working hard to keep us healthy and safe.”
