This is the final weekend for an agreement to be reached between Memorial University and its faculty – otherwise the picket signs could go up Monday morning.
It does not appear as though a solution will be found before the strike deadline of one minute past midnight Sunday.
Many classes taught by members of MUNFA would be affected by a strike. Some classes are taught by per course instructors, who are part of a different organization.
Meanwhile, MUN says a guide distributed to students and staff with tips on how to conduct oneself when approaching and crossing a picket line, was initially sent out by mistake.
MUN's Communications Manager, Dave Sorensen, has stated to the MUSE that the "Tips for safely crossing the picket line" document was issued in error.

The error, pointed out by the university publication The Muse, involved the fact that there was no attribution crediting the source, Loyalist College.
MUN says there was a clerical error which resulted in the wrong file being uploaded, and that it’s been replaced with the correct one.
The guide includes specifics about expecting delays and not to take comments or events personally, not to rush through the line, to not react, argue or become provoked, and avoid confrontation or provocation.
NAPE President Jerry Earle says workers have the right to strike, adding it’s “shameful” that MUN would encourage people to cross a picket line in the first place.
