With almost three years removed from the start of the pandemic the effects of COVID-related stress are still being felt, according to the latest edition of the Lifeworks Mental Health Index.
Senior Vice-President Paula Allen, says one of the key takeaways in their latest report is that while there has been some improvement in overall mental well-being, things still are not back to where they were pre-COVID.
In particular, she points to the effects on younger adults.
She says they’re finding that age group has a lot less confidence in their ability to do things like deal with work, change, and personal matters.
Allen says part of that is due to that age group going through what she calls a transitional time, meaning that a lot of them are thinking about things such as moving, starting families, buying homes, and choosing careers.
While that sort of change can be positive, Allen notes that it is still stressful, and the pandemic has “eroded” some of the typical supports that would be there to help people through that time.
