There’s been no official word as yet, but it appears as though Fogo Island has secured a family practice physician.

Mayor Andrew Shea was responding to concerns raised by a St. John’s man who received notification that his family doctor is leaving her practice to set up on Fogo Island.

Shea says there’s been no official notification, but it’s his understanding that a physician is coming in April from St. John’s.

He’s fairly certain the doctor is coming and “that’s a big plus for Fogo Island, I tell you.”
