A significant landmark in the town of Grand Falls-Windsor is now a registered heritage structure.
Grand Falls House, was built in 1909 by Alfred and Harold Harmsworth and designed by British architect Robert Douglas Wells.
Heritage NL designated the house, located in a park-like setting overlooking the Exploits River, as a Registered Heritage Structure last month.
The building has been described as a magnificently appointed Tudor-style mansion.
It’s one of the town’s oldest original buildings, built during development of the paper mill. Grand Falls House is now in possession of the town of Grand Falls-Windsor.
Heritage NL Chair Dr. Lisa Daly calls it an impressive, unique building.
