The man arrested last week in connection with several recent fires in St. John’s will seek release on bail today
Thirty-one year-old Alex Hayes is accused of setting fire to at least three properties—two on January 19 involving sheds on Empire Avenue and Fraser’s Lane, and an historic home next to The Rooms on Bonaventure Avenue on January 24.
A fourth fire a week earlier damaged a shed at King George V soccer pitch, while another in November scorched the canteen in Bannerman Park. No charges have been laid in those cases.
Hayes faces three counts each of arson and break and enter.
