One in three Newfoundlanders and Labradorians will suffer from some form of cardiac illness over the course of their lifetime and a fundraiser is underway as part of Heart Month activities.

Dr. Sean Connors, clinical chief of the cardiac care program at Eastern Health says the Row 4 Heart event February 26 will help to raise money to purchase a number of important pieces of equipment to help cardiac patients.

He says they have a world-class cardiac care team in St. John’s, but the province is massive, so they want to extend their reach to patients in all parts of the province, with virtual-first cardiac care.

He says that will allow members of the cardiac care team in St. John’s to have access to cardiograms, heart rate and blood pressure results and speak directly with emergency room doctors at various sites “right there when you show up.”
