A 28-year-old Bishops Falls man was arrested and charged on Friday after a frightening sequence of events that culminated in a tense confrontation with police.
Police say Dean Langdon ended up in an apartment building in Grand Falls-Windsor and refused to come out after police tracked him following a home invasion in Peterview earlier that morning.
The standoff, at the corner of High Street and Church Road, resulted in an advisory from police for area residents to stay inside and keep their doors locked.
RCMP say Langdon was identified as one of two people involved in an armed home invasion in Peterview around 5:30 earlier that morning. Two men, one armed with a firearm and the other with a knife, forced their way into the home wearing bandanas.
Langdon surrendered himself after negotiations with police. He’s been remanded to custody. RCMP say he was unlawfully at large for charges stemming from RNC jurisdiction in St. John’s.
He’s facing charges of breaching court orders. The home invasion investigation continues, and further charges are expected.
