Twillingate RCMP are investigating a suspicious fire at a home in Cottlesville, on New World Island, over the weekend.

Police first received the call around 5 p.m. on Saturday.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, which police say appears suspicious.

There are no reports of injuries.

Police and the Office of the Fire Commissioner are still investigating, but anyone with information about the fire should contact the RCMP at 709-884-2811, or Crime Stoppers.

Meanwhile, a family of three has been displaced by a fire in Ochre Pit Cove, just south of Northern Bay Sands.

According to the Canadian Red Cross the blaze broke out on Sunday night.

There were no injuries, and it’s not clear what caused the fire.

The family has been helped out with the emergency purchase of some basic necessities, and are staying with relatives in the area.
