Snowmobiling is now open at Gros Morne National Park.
Snowmobilers must have a resident, public or commercial snowmobile permit for the park.
Parks Canada warns that weather and snow conditions are variable and bogs and barrens can have reduced snow cover due to changing weather conditions.
Snowmobilers are asked to remain on commonly-used routes when traveling over barrens or bogs to avoid damaging the local vegetation and terrain.
They’re also asking users to be mindful of avalanche hazards, especially after periods of heavy or fresh accumulation.
Avalanche Canada shows a considerable risk for avalanches on the west coast including Gros Morne and the Great Northern Peninsula.
