The president of the province’s Registered Nurses Union doesn’t see a lot of hope for nursing in the Canada Health Transfer offer made to the provinces this week.
Yvette Coffey happened to be in Ottawa for a national conference at the same time that the premiers were meeting with the Prime Minister.
She wanted to see more to address the many issues raised by nurses in recent years including workload and workplace safety.
She didn’t see anything concrete including an HR plan which they have been “calling for loudly.” Retention is an issue says Coffey that needs to be addressed, not only in Newfoundland and Labrador, but right across Canada.
