A sudden death in the Mayor Avenue area of St. John’s on Tuesday has been ruled a homicide.
RNC say the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner made the determination today, adding the incident is not believed to be random, nor do they believe there are any immediate concerns to public safety.
They also say they won’t be releasing the name of the victim, a 22-year-old man, or the cause of death.
The incident played out just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, with the victim found suffering from serious injuries in the area of Mayor Avenue and Newtown Road. He was rushed to hospital but died of his injuries.
Police are reminding people that they continue to canvas the area, and are seeking any video surveillance that might assist their investigation — specifically, footage of Merrymeeting Road, Mayor Avenue, Newtown Road, Salisbury Street, Empire Avenue and Hoyles Avenue, from about 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday.
They also say residents who find an RNC business card in their door or mailbox should contact the person or number listed.
There’s no indication police have any suspects in the case.
