A St. John’s teacher has been found not guilty of sexual exploitation of a student in 2018.
34-year-old Krysta Grimes raced from the prisoner’s box to embrace her lawyer, Rosellen Sullivan, after the judge’s verdict was delivered in Supreme Court this afternoon.

Grimes was accused of having sex with a male student in 2018 while she was a substitute teacher at Gonzaga High School.
But the judge ruled there were simply too many serious inconsistencies in the testimony of the complainant, who was almost 17 at the time he said the incident occurred.
In particular, he gave differing accounts regarding where, when and how they had sex, and even the position they were in.
But the judge also highlighted what he called “shoddy” police work by a first-time investigator, including failures to question key players and secure cellphone tracking evidence from the day of the alleged incident.
Grimes was asked how she felt following the verdict, but declined comment and quickly left the courthouse with family and friends.
