The verdict in the trial of St. John’s teacher Krysta Grimes is set to be handed down today.
The 34-year-old woman is charged with sexual exploitation of a male student, who was 16 when the incident is alleged to have occurred in 2018.
The complainant, who is now 21, says they planned to meet through Snapchat, and had sex in the back seat of his parents’ car.
The defence argued that inconsistencies in his testimony, as well as less-than-thorough police work, should lead to an acquittal.
Justice Vikas Khaladkar is set to deliver his verdict in Supreme Court this afternoon.
If convicted, Grimes faces a minimum of one year in prison.
