The provincial government is providing funding of $150,000 to the Alzheimer Society for two programs to support people living with dementia.
There are approximately 10,000 people living with dementia in Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Alzheimer’s Society expects that number to increase to 14,000 by 2035.
The First Link Program provides people with dementia, their families and care givers with information and services in the community.
The Dementia Passport provides support to health care providers including home support and personal care home workers to help provide high quality care to people living with dementia.
