An Irish TikTok creator was shocked to find out he had gone viral following a video asking to hear Newfoundland accents.
After watching a 30-40 year old video from Newfoundland, Davy Holden says he was surprised when the man sounded just like someone from his area in the county of Kilkenny, Ireland.
Thinking the accents would have faded by now in Newfoundland, he put the call out on social media asking to hear them.

Holden says he woke up the next morning with a quarter of a million views on TikTok.
He says he’s planning on coming to Newfoundland this summer to do a documentary about the Irish history on the island.
Holden notes that the majority of people that emigrated to Canada in the early 1800’s are from the area where he lives, which is what really got him interested. He’s since made many videos about Newfoundland.
Holden says he would to love hear stories from people with Irish ancestry and that he’s hoping to possibly find distant relatives.
@davyholden Newfoundland’ers, yer shtone cracked! See yee in the summer 🇮🇪💚 #newfoundland #newfoundlandtiktok #newfoundlandcanada #newfoundlandaccent
