A four-day preliminary inquiry is set to begin this morning for a man accused of shooting two other men in C.B.S. last fall.
32-year-old Matthew Fowler faces 23 charges in total, including two counts of aggravated assault, robbery, fleeing police, a list of serious gun charges, and refusing the breathalyzer.
The drama played out on the morning of September 22 in Chamberlains and Foxtrap, and triggered emergency alerts on cellphones throughout the northeast Avalon, as well as school lockdowns.
The search for the suspect led to a car chase that ended when Fowler was cornered and arrested on St. Thomas’ Line in Paradise.
He has chosen to be tried by Supreme Court judge and jury, if the provincial court judge finds there’s enough evidence to go to trial.
The two shooting victims, meanwhile, continue to recover from their injuries.
