The school board is making progress in restoring routes affected by the suspension of a transportation provider.
The English School District is reviewing its relationship with Gladney’s Bus Service of Portugal Cove-St. Philips. Originally, 20 schools in St. John’s, Mount Pearl, Paradise and Conception Bay South were impacted but that has been whittled down to 14 schools.
Terry Hall, interim acting CEO/Superintendent of the board, says the decision was made out of concern for safety of the students.
The board hopes to have contingency bussing for all schools by next Monday. Hall says they added bussing during the pandemic because of reductions in maximum carrying capacity, and they hope to tap into some of those resources.
