Memorial University’s Students Union is bringing a series of motions before Memorial University’s Senate this afternoon seeking protections for students as a result of recent strike action.
MUNSU is seeking extension of academic amnesty for students and an extension to drop deadlines to the end of the winter term—including both financial and academic prejudice deadlines.
They’re also looking for tuition refunds for all students for the duration of the strike action, and the option of the PASS/FAIL grading structure for all students.
Classes resume tomorrow after the employer reached an agreement with faculty last Friday.
The union supported MUNFA during the strike as students equate improved working conditions to higher-quality education.
John Harris, VP of external relations with MUNSU, says they also wish to see better compensation for non-MUNFA instructors as they don’t get paid until September.
