Police have made an arrest following a crime spree that the say stretched from St. John’s to Gander.
According to the RCMP, the spree of crimes began in St. John’s last Wednesday morning.
They allege that 39-year-old Garry Ivany of Gander broke into a funeral home and stole a vehicle from inside.
From there the crime spree headed to Clarenville. They say Ivany then stole a quantity of tools from Canadian Tire, a cart full of merchandise from Wal-Mart, cash from the Clarenville Inn, and gas from the Canadian Tire Gas Bar on Manitoba Drive.
Just before 8:00 p.m. that night, they say Ivany stole cash from a bar in Gander.
Then on Thursday morning, the stolen vehicle was found at a home in Glenwood.
Just after 6:15 a.m. Friday, RCMP say Ivany broke into the Orange Store on the TCH in Gander and stole a large quantity of cigarettes from inside.
He was captured on video surveillance from the various locations in Clarenville and in Gander.
Ivany was arrested Friday night at an apartment complex in Gander.
He appeared in court on Tuesday to answer to a long list of charges related to theft and breaches of court orders.
Ivany has been remanded to custody and will make another court appearance in March 14th.
