Corner Brook city council has approved a map amendment related to an application to rezone the old Presentation School on Mount Bernard Avenue from community service to residential low density.

The proponent wishes to develop the old school into a 24-unit apartment complex.

The developer is planning to use the existing structure while the connection to Xavier House is expected to be demolished.

Councillor Vaughn Granter says the proposed development fits with the city’s focus on creation of housing.

The property has existing parking.

A public hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 9 at city hall.
