Current NDP interim leader Jim Dinn will make an announcement tomorrow. This comes following news earlier that the party has opened up the nomination process to elect its next leader.
Dinn has been interim leader since Alison Coffin stepped down following the 2021 provincial election, but up to now he has not publicly expressed any interest in staying on as the permanent leader.
Dinn will make his announcement tomorrow evening at the Retired Citizens Association. VOCM News will be there.
The nomination period for the selection of a new leader will close on March 27th.
The date of a leadership vote will be announced in the event of a race. If a new leader is chosen by acclamation, the party executive will name the candidate as the official leader.
Former Federation of Labour leader, and NDP candidate in the 2021 election, Mary Shortall has been named the Chief Electoral Officer to oversee the process.
The PCs, meanwhile, will choose a new leader in October.
