It was another rough weekend for the Newfoundland Rogues as they dropped all three games in their series against the Sudbury Five.
The team fell behind after having a nearly 20-point lead over Sudbury in the third quarter and lost 131-129 in overtime.
That puts the Rogues at a 2-9 record on the season, an unusual feat for them after going undefeated in 2022.
Head Coach Jerry Williams says its a rough time as he doesn’t have a fully healthy squad.
Williams asks that fans be patient with them as they work through multiple injuries. He says they haven’t had a full healthy roster all-season and expects they’ll be pulling off some wins once players are able to rehabilitate.
Shooting guard Daniel Gordon says fans make a huge difference to their performance and encourages the public to get out and take in some of their games.
“Having the support and the fans behind you gives you an extra energy boost,” says Gordon. He says since there aren’t many professional sports teams in the province, anyone who enjoys fast paced, non-stop action should check out the Rogues.
The Newfoundland Rogues are back in action at the Mary Brown’s Centre on Wednesday against the Salem Capitals.
