With the potential closure of the Bally Haly curling club on the horizon, curling champion Brad Gushue says another curling facility is needed in the metro region and he intends to do what he can to make that a reality.
Currently, there are two curling clubs in St. John’s, but the potential sale of Bally Haly could leave the city with just one facility—the ReMax Centre, located in the centre city.
Gushue says there is a need for a curling rink in the west end so people living in Mount Pearl and Paradise don’t have to go far to access a curling club.
He says a facility in the west end will help grow the game.
Gushue says it’s a large project that would take years of planning and development, but he plans to do everything in his power to make it happen.
