A 45-year-old Clarenville man was arrested and charged after allegedly making a troubling post to social media.

Clarenville RCMP started receiving reports last Friday evening about a post made to Facebook showing a man with a firearm and with threats to workers with the department of Children, Seniors and Social Development and an officer at the Clarenville detachment.

Police identified the person behind the post and arrested the man in Bunyan’s Cove a short time later.

A handgun style airsoft bb gun, matching the one in the post, was located at the time and seized.

The man was released from custody on a number of conditions and is charges with two counts of uttering threats. The investigation continues.
