There’s some heavy weather coming into the Avalon Peninsula, and that means school closures. About 15 cm of snow is on the way, set to begin during the morning commute and wind down later this afternoon. Winds will be blowing the snow around.
Schools in the metro region are closed for the day as are many others on the Avalon Peninsula.
Tiffany Cheeks, meteorologist with the Gander Weather Office, says the heaviest snow comes late this morning and early this afternoon.
She says winds will be in the 50 to 60 km/h range which has the potential to cause blowing snow.
The Clarenville-Bonavista area and the Burin Peninsula will get about 5 cm.
