RNC have arrested a man in connection with six armed robberies at businesses in St. John’s over the past month.
The end of the line for the suspect began unfolding at about 2 p.m. yesterday when he entered a business on Kenmount Road and presented a note demanding cash. He left before officers arrived but a few minutes later, police rushed to another business on Kiwanis Street off Kelsey Drive. Again, he fled on foot just before officers got there and after presenting a note to the employees demanding cash.
The RNC, including K-9 located the suspect on a nearby business parking lot and arrested him without incident.
Forty-year-old James Keogan has been charged with those robberies plus four others:
- On January 24, 2023, at about 4:00 p.m., at a business in the area of Water Street, St. John’s
- On January 30, 2023, at about 7:05 p.m., at a business in the area of Water Street, St. John’s
- On February 1, 2023, at about 11:40 p.m., at a business in the area of Water Street, St. John’s
- On February 21, 2023, at about 6:15 p.m., at a business in the area of Kelsey Drive, St. John’s
Keogan also faces five charges of disguise with intent.
He consented to remain in custody his next court date on March 3.
