Federal Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is in Newfoundland meeting with area residents to discuss a number of issues.
Poilievre paid a visit to the Rod and Gun Club in Deer Lake yesterday followed by a trip to Corner Brook. He’s in Clarenville this evening for a town hall at 6:30 at the Royal Canadian Legion.
Poilievre says tax reform is among the items he intends to bring forward when he officially launches his election platform. He intends to reform the tax system so that “every time someone goes out, earns that extra buck, gets a bonus or promotion, that they keep more of that dollar.”
He also intends to build Canada’s oil and gas industry, which he says is the greenest oil in the world. He says the solution is not to bring “more dirty Saudi or Russian oil” into Canada but to “bring more production home” by incentivizing carbon capture.
