A series of public information sessions are being held in central Newfoundland this week to discuss plans by the Exploits Valley Renewable Energy Corporation to develop wind and hydrogen production in the area.
Exploits Valley Renewable Energy Corporation is a subsidiary of Abraxas, and a strategic partner with the Exploits Valley Port Corporation and Marine Contractors Inc, a NL-based heavy civil construction firm.
Scott Sceviour, who is with the Exploits Valley Port Corporation, which operates the Port of Botwood, says they want people to ask questions and present that feedback as part of their proposal to government by March 3.
He says they want to mitigate any concerns people may have including the impact of having wind turbines erected on the landscape.
He says among the concerns some may have would be how the access they’ve always enjoyed to the land will be affected. Because the turbines will need to be accessible by vehicle, it will actually expand access according to Sceviour.
Tonight’s meeting is scheduled for the Classic Theatre in Grand Falls-Windsor at 7:00 p.m.
