What a night it was for Dawson Mercer of Bay Roberts.
With the Devils trailing the Los Angeles Kings 2 to 0 in the second period, Mercer set up Thomas Tatar to get them on the board, then scored his 17th to tie it 2 to 2.

The Kings took the lead in the third but New Jersey tied it with 40 seconds left. Mercer then went to work, scoring the OT winner halfway through the frame.
He was named the game’s 1st star.

It was also Mercer’s 140th consecutive game, tying Scott Gomez’s team record.
With that win, the Devils move to within three points of Carolina in the Metropolitan Division.
