There’s a fundraiser tonight for a former broadcaster who is about to undergo a risky operation in Toronto in an attempt to regain some of his eyesight.
Jason Taylor of St. John’s was born with “Peter’s Anomaly,” a genetic eye disorder, and has been totally blind since November. Jason, his mother, father and wife will be travelling to Toronto next month for the surgery. It will be done at Sunnybrook Hospital and will involve cataract removal and corneal transplant. It’s a high-risk surgery which cannot be done in Newfoundland.
The fundraiser dance is for 30-plus singles tonight at the Royal Canadian Legion on Blackmarsh Road starting at 9:00 p.m.. Tickets will be sold with prizes to be won. The proceeds will go to the family to help with costs.
