Choices for Youth held their annual fundraiser in support for young people facing homelessness this past weekend.
Hundreds of people braved the frigid temperatures in St John’s on Saturday for the Coldest Night of the Year Walk, raising over $68,000 for the cause, clearing the $50,000 goal.
Katie Keats, manager of fund development and communications with Choices For Youth, says the total is a new record. She calls the support “touching”.
She says they saw the most walkers they have ever seen and fundraising is “through the roof.” She says it is a hard time, but people realize there are others who need support.
Donations are still being accepted online.
