A 39-year-old man has died following a snowmobile crash near Trout River over the weekend.
The RCMP were first called to the scene, near Chimney Cove Pond, just after 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
They say the snowmobile left the trail and went over a wooded embankment.
The driver, who was the lone occupant, was found deceased at the bottom of the embankment while the machine was found a considerable distance away.
The man’s body was recovered with help from snowmobilers in the community.
Police believe alcohol impairment and aggressive operation may have lead to the crash.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has been contacted and the investigation is continuing.
The RCMP is thanking those who assisted, including the Trout River Volunteer Fire Department, who opened the fire hall as a warming centre.
