RCMP in Happy Valley-Goose Bay have identified a woman believed to have used a counterfeit $100 bill at a business in town.
Police received a complaint on Sunday, February 19 about a woman who made a purchase with a counterfeit bill. The same woman apparently returned to the same business later that day and attempted to use another counterfeit bill, which was not accepted.
The woman, who police say is not known to police or employees of the store, left the business.
Police released an image of a woman caught on surveillance camera, and a short time later were able to identify her.
In the meantime, police are advising business owners and others to familiarize themselves with the security features on bank notes.
