A 44-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an armed robbery at the Circle K on Union Street in Grand Falls-Windsor earlier this week.
RCMP were called around 2:30 Wednesday morning after two masked men entered the convenience store. One stood guard at the door, while the other demanded cash while brandishing a knife.
The pair left the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash and beer.
RMCP say they tracked down James Patrick Murray later that afternoon, who fled from police on an ATV. As police were preparing a warrant for his arrest, Murray emerged from a home and surrendered to officers.
He’s accused of robbery and flight from police, as well as passing a counterfeit bill at a business in the town on February 16th.
Murray also faces charges of disguise with intent, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats.
A second person remains at large. Police have released a surveillance image of the suspect who is described as between 5 foot 9 and 5 foot 11 inches tall. He was wearing orange reflective clothing, a dark-coloured ball hat and dark boots. He also appeared to be wearing a dark hoodie under his jacket.
