The 2023 Brier is officially underway in London, Ontario and features two teams from this province.
Brad Gushue and his rink, representing Team Canada opened the tournament with a 6-5 win over British Columbia.
Gushue won an automatic entry into the tournament after winning the title in 2022.
Newfoundland and Labrador is being represented by Team Young, led by 19-year-old skip Nathan Young of Torbay.
Young previously represented Newfoundland and Labrador at the Brier last year, finishing the tournament with a 1-7 record.
Young’s rink looks to improve in this year’s tournament. Their first match gets underway this afternoon against Nunavut at 3:30 island time.
