Numerous tickets were handed out earlier this week during a joint initiative between the RNC and RCMP.
The operation, carried out on Thursday, focused on the move-over law, speeding, and other traffic violations.
The first leg of the operation was carried out on the TCH by the Witless Bay Line overpass.
Throughout the morning 16 speeding tickets, 11 tickets for failing to move over, and one seatbelt ticket was issued.
Then, police moved to the Team Gushue Highway in St. John’s.
There, 24 tickets were issued, mostly for speeding, and one driver had their vehicle seized for driving without insurance.
Both police forces are urging the importance of awareness while driving, and ask that people slow down and move over when they encounter emergency vehicles, as it could save a life.
