The Multi-Materials Stewardship Board is launching a new campaign to get more people recycling.

The MMSB is joining forces with municipalities across the province in the Recycle@Home program to encourage residents to reduce waste going to the province’s landfills.

According to the latest research carried out by the MMSB, resident are incorrectly placing more than half of their recyclable materials in the garbage, rather than blue bags.

The MMSB says if that material was recycled rather than thrown away, NL residents could reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 157,000 tonnes annually.
