There was a hero’s welcome at St. John’s International this afternoon for Team NL athletes returning from the Canada Games in PEI.
Parents, brothers, sisters, and other supporters all came out to greet the returning athletes.
Team NL had a successful two weeks at the games, bringing home four medals in total—two gold and two bronze.
Maddox Glover, who won gold in Special Olympic Level II Figure Skating, arrived home to the roar of the crowd, which included many people with signs bearing his name.
He recalls the moment he found out he won.
He says Susan, who manages figure skating with Team NL, checked the board and excitedly ran over to tell him he won.
