One of the big discussions taking place at the 67th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in New York is surrounding the use of technology to tackle gender issues.
Today is International Women’s Day.
Jessica McCormick, President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour, is in New York for the meetings.
She says a lot of the sessions she’s been a part of have been focusing on the use of technology as a tool to deal with things such as gender-based violence.
McCormick says she recently attended a session that included representatives from Colombia and Estonia on that very topic. She says they talked about technology in terms of education, as well as a resource for people to get help when they need it.
