The annual memorial service to mark the loss of Cougar Flight 491 is taking place this weekend.
March 12 is the 14th anniversary of the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of 17 of the 18 people on board. The disaster rocked the entire province, and resulted in a lengthy inquiry into helicopter safety in the offshore
Reverend Christopher Fowler is with Eastern Chaplaincy which offers pastoral care and support to employees in the province’s offshore. He says this Sunday’s service is a chance for families, friends and loved ones to come together to remember.
The service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sunday at Elim Pentecostal Tabernacle in St. John’s. It will also be streamlined on the Eastern Chaplaincy website for those who can’t make it in person.
