The President and Founder of Target Marketing, a Newfoundland-based award-winning marketing firm, is the first marketer in Atlantic Canada to be inducted into Canada’s Marketing Hall of Legends.
Noel O’Dea has been in the business for four decades. Target is responsible for a number of well-known marketing campaigns including the iconic Newfoundland and Labrador tourism ads.
The ads have won numerous awards locally, nationally and internationally and proved so successful, Manitoba launched a similar ad campaign. He says the creativity and ingenuity exercised by Newfoundlanders and Labradorians over the centuries, “defies formula.”
O’Dea says a lot of people thought he was “nuts” when he founded the company going up against major marketing firms in London, Toronto and New York, but he says the natural creativity of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians is the strength that made them successful.
