A teenager has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault in connection with an attack at a St. John’s high school that left another boy with serious head injuries.
The RNC says the accused is one of a group of people involved in the targeted attack that occurred outside Prince of Wales Collegiate shortly before noon yesterday.
The school was placed in secure-schools mode and the 16-year-old victim was rushed to hospital for treatment.
RNC Const. James Cadigan says police are looking for more information as they continue their investigation.
He says parents are receiving accounts from their children who are afraid of the people believed to be responsible for the attack.
Cadigan says it’s vital that investigators have as much current information as possible and he encourages those afraid of getting involved to contact Crime Stoppers to provide information anonymously.
Police are seeking any surveillance images or video from a wide area that includes Paton Street, Elizabeth Avenue from Westerland Road to Freshwater Road, Anderson Avenue, Stabb Court, Keegan Court, Cowperthwaite Court, and Mitchell Court.
Police are releasing few other details to protect the integrity of the evidence and witness accounts.
