A teenage boy has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault after a targeted attack that sent another teen to hospital with serious head injuries.
The investigation continues and police are seeking further information from witnesses and others.
RNC says a group of people set upon the 16-year-old victim just outside Prince of Wales Collegiate in St. John’s over the lunch hour on Thursday.
RNC Constable James Cadigan says weapons were involved, but he wouldn’t elaborate further.
He says while multiple suspects were involved, he won’t say how many, or what type of weapons were used, to protect the integrity of the investigation.
Attendance at PWC was just under 70 per cent yesterday, which the school district indicates is not surprising given the circumstances. Counsellors and educational psychologists were on site to provide assistance to students and staff.
District staff were also on hand on Friday, along with members of a private security firm. The English School District says those same resources will be available when students and staff return to school on Monday.
