A driver is facing numerous charges after short police chase in downtown St. John’s.
Early Saturday evening, RNC attempted to pull a vehicle over when the driver fled at a high rate of speed.
Police went after the vehicle, which had crashed into a post at the intersection of New Gower Street and Barter’s Hill.
The 44-year-old driver then attempted to takeoff on foot, but was apprehended by police.
The man was arrested and held for court where he faces a number of charges including impaired driving, refusal, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, hit and run, flight from police, and driving while suspended.
He’s also facing fines for having expired registration and open liquor in his vehicle. His vehicle was impounded.
