Opposition Leader David Brazil says the upcoming provincial budget has to address the “sky-high” cost of living.
He says the provincial government “took three attempts” at putting together a cost of living plan, yet residents are still suffering with record high grocery costs, increasing rent and rising gas and home heating fuel prices.
Brazil says government has demonstrated that it is unable to make living in the province more affordable.
He says more meaningful action is needed including ensuring that the Carbon Tax does not increase home heating fuel by 17 cents, a continued temporary gas tax reduction to relieve pressure at the pumps, cutting the sugar tax, and a continued commitment to the home heating rebate plan.
Government will bring down its 2023 budget on Thursday, March 23.
