It’s been one year since the province launched its support desk to provide support to Ukraine.
A Ukrainian help desk was established in Poland to meet those fleeing Russia’s invasion and help them relocate to Newfoundland and Labrador.
Since 2022, over 2,300 Ukrainian refugees have arrived in this province, with 700 of them arriving through four government-sponsored airlifts.
Premier Andrew Furey was in Poland last week to meet with the Deputy Minister of the Interior.
He says the desk is still up and running and Newfoundland and Labrador continues to be a destination of choice for those continuing to flee Ukraine.
Newfoundland and Labrador has welcomed more than 2,100 Ukrainians, many of whom arrived through our desk in Poland. It was an honour to be in Warsaw and meet with the Deputy Minister of Interior in charge of international cooperation, @BartoszGrodecki to thank him for his help. pic.twitter.com/kYbXpwQnh0
