A research project from MUN’s School of Nursing is looking into the impact COVID-19 is having on nursing graduates.
The lead on the study, Dr. Robin Burry, says they’re aware of a number of challenges faced by health care workers over the last three years, but a gap remains when it comes to the impact on new nurses.
She says it’s important to recognize those challenges as nursing graduates are the largest recruitment group when it comes to addressing staff shortages. Burry says nurses just entering the field have always experienced challenges and it’s important to recognize any additional impacts the pandemic has had on their mental health and well-being.
By gathering information from grads across the province, they hope to make changes to current programs and add new resources.
