Inflation in Newfoundland and Labrador last month was roughly on par with the national average after a slight dip.
Nationally, inflation in February stood at 5.2 per cent, down from 5.9 in February. In this province, inflation fell slightly from 5.5 per cent to 5.4. That rate was the third-lowest of all provinces.
Despite the overall cooling, grocery prices remained elevated and outpaced overall inflation. Prices for food purchased from stores in February were up 10.6 per cent compared with a year ago, the seventh consecutive month of double-digit increases.
