The organization establishing Newfoundland and Labrador’s first community-based hospice is moving closer to opening its doors.
Lionel Kelland Hospice now has an executive director in place with the recruitment of Peggy Hamilton. Hamilton has an extensive background in accounting, progressive management and leadership within different industries and sectors. Having worked in the oil industry, federal airport authority, seafood processing, retail, hospitality, and government companies, she also has experience in the not-for-profit sector.
Board Chair Mark Griffin says they carried out a robust search process and are confident that Hamilton will contribute greatly to ensuring that everything will be in place for the hospice to open later this year.
The former Presentation Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor will have ten private resident suites and spaces that enable families to be together and supported as they journey with their loved ones during the last days and moments of life.
